HIV & Opioid Use Research Study
The UPENN Treatment Research center is conducting a research study examining how HIV and Opioid use disorder relate to inflammation in the brain.
Who Can Participate
Living with HIV + not using Opioids
Living with HIV + in stable treatment for Opioid
use disorder
Not living with HIV + in stable treatment for
Opioid use disorder
Facts About Our Study
This research is examining brain inflammation related to opioid use and living with HIV, and seeks people with and without these conditions
Participants from 18 to 60 years old
Willing to complete all 4 study sessions
Available for MRI and PET/CT scan
Compensation for full participation = $550
Study Background
Opioids have direct effects on immune function and Opioid Use Disorder may be accompanied by
infections such as HIV

Help researchers learn more about how Opioid Use and HIV status affect inflammation in the
brain by participating in a paid study of a new brain imaging drug
Additional Information
