The study takes place over the course of a year.
You would be randomly assigned to one of the programs. In the first program, you would use a Fitbit that the study gives you and complete a daily set of brief questions on a smartphone app during the first 3 months. In the second program, in addition to the Fitbit and app questions, you will also receive 6, brief phone or Zoom sessions with a study counselor. After these 3 months, you will meet with a study staff person for follow-up interviews every 3 months (so at 3-, 6-, 9- and 12-months), and can receive $1140 for participating in all the study activities. The initial steps will assess whether you may be eligible to participate. If you are eligible and choose to participate in the study, your involvement will also include a finger stick blood test called a pETH test at all assessments, a pregnancy test, and a 6-minute physical activity test at the baseline and follow-ups.
