History of Type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease

Study Background
Did you know that if you have diabetes, you're twice as likely to get heart disease?
The purpose of our study is to study blood vessel health in patients with type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease.
If you have type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or both, you may qualify to participate.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease on blood vessel health. Your participation in this study could lead to improved knowledge and treatments for those diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the future.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria:
Eligibility Criteria:
30 to 80 years of age
Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or both
You may NOT Qualify if you have:
Very high blood pressure
Recent heart attack or frequent chest pain
Recent episode of fluid in the lungs or heart failure
This study will involve one study visit with an optional second study visit for second cell collection each lasting 2-3 hours with the following procedures:
blood pressure readings
non-invasive vascular measurements
blood draw
placement of the intravenous catheter in the arm and collection of cells lining the blood vessel using a soft-tipped wire placed through the catheter
there may be an administration of a medication called nitroglycerin which is given under the tongue to measure blood vessel dilation
Compensation: $125 gift card for main study and $75 for optional second cell collection.
