About this research study:
Researchers are trying to further their understanding of health and wellness behaviors in young adults who experience chronic pain and use cannabis.
Pain relief is known to be an important motivation for cannabis use. This study is designed to learn more about the daily experiences of young adult marijuana users with chronic pain.

We hope to learn more about how marijuana use influences daily health and wellness behaviors and experiences, including sleep, pain, and your mood. In the future, this knowledge can be translated into innovative and effective interventions for children and adolescents with pain and their families.

Why is this study being done?
Researchers at Washington State University want to find out more about the health and wellness behaviors of young adults who use cannabis and experience chronic pain. We hope to learn more about how marijuana use influences daily health and wellness behaviors and experiences, including sleep, pain, and mood.
Is this study for me?
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Use cannabis/marijuana no less than once a week.
  • Be between the ages of 18 & 29.
  • Experience persistent physical pain that impacts your life that has lasted for at least 3 months.
What will happen if I participate in the study?
If you qualify and choose to enroll in this study, you will be asked to complete an online session with a research team member. For the two weeks following your online appointment, you will respond to brief surveys (30 seconds or less) about your cannabis use, pain, and mood multiple times a day on your
smartphone.

You will also complete online surveys that asks about your use of cannabis, your experience with pain, your general mood and feelings of optimism, your physical activity, and your sleep habits.

Total time commitment is estimated to be roughly 8 hours over a two-week period.

Will I be paid for being in this research study?
Eligible participants can earn up $100 in gift cards for completing all portions of the study.
Will it cost me anything to participate in this study?
There is no cost for you to participate in this study.
